Another from St Marys Lighthouse, Whitley bay.
Great place to be early morning.

Moody work..... Has so much atmosphere
Beautiful !
Nicola !
I like the idea of this and I think I'd have tried something like this, too. I'm not quite sure about the results, though. The eye is naturally attracted to areas of high contrast which, in this case, means the pools in the foreground, and these aren't so important in the grand scheme of things. The line of posts also seems to lead the eye away from the lighthouse. Did you use a grad on this? If so, it might have been better without, as that would have kept the pools darker.
The lighthouse and sky are excellent, though. As a mod, I've posted a tighter crop; I also selected the lower part, feathered the selection and used a curves adjustment to darken the pools a little.

Great looking Mod and as always thank you for your thoughts DRicherby, they always help.
I did indeed use a grad on this, the pools were lightened using the dodge tool as I thought I should have some foreground detail / interest.
Its maybe a case of just too many things going on, although from a amateur point of view I rather liked it ![]()
But I do indeed understand and appreciate your helpful input.
Thank you again..
John
great image JD.
mods image too looks good, see where they're coming from.
however, both versions look equally eyecatching!
