Just a snap shot In harsh mid day sun- so I know this wont go down well, but this summed up yesterday for me. Just to be part of one of the greatest sporting events, OK we were privaledged to have had seats for the morning session, oh for it to have been the afternoon - but i'm not complaining. All I can say is the organisation was first rate, I can't fault one tiny bit about it, not even the tubes, all ran like clockwork - even leaving the stadium - 7 minutes from Stratford international on the Javelin line to Kings Cross was amazing.
This is one of the BBC cameramen - Donald Conley (name on his badge on one of the other shots), watching Usain Bolt prepare for the 100m heat, he was just about to get some crowd action, the olympic champion Bolt was only about 20M away at the start line - oh how I wisdh I'd taked the dSLR. The guy certainly has an Aura about him.
Unusually for me very little done in PS other than straighten as best as I could, and a quick conversion to mono.

'Just a snapshot'. Sir John Herschel coined the word in 1860, to define the movement of photography out of the neck-in-a-brace studio into real life. He didn't totally approve, but real life has left that behind. This is brilliant. And it's real.

Couldn't give my award until this morning. This is special - it's the light on the cameraman's face. He seems to be literally shining with pleasure.
