I am not competent to comment critically on this type of shot, as I guess it comes into the genre 'portraiture'. But perhaps you will indulge me if I make a general remark.
There is a natural softness to this original image, and I don't mean it's out of focus, it is not. But when I compare it to your processed shot, I have to say I like this original very much better.......the processed one seems harsh and too contrasty by comparison.
I would stick with this one just as it is, perhaps cloning out the edge of a table {?} extreme left.
And I do like the way her forefinger is extended along the handle of her brolly.
Ronnie.
Hi Louise,
Thanks for uploading the original shot. You had a few people scratching their heads yeaterday!
As for this one, I'd leave the previously cloned out bush as it is but lose whatever thast is behind it as well as the white bits to the left.
In fact, when you straighten it, which it really needs, you'll probably lose the chair (?) anyway.
If you want to crop it, I suggest you take some from the left and the bottom thus moving your subject away from the centre and closer to a third.
Unfortunately, the umbrella's blown, probably beyond realistic repair and the sky's a bit bright too but I could live with that.
Finally, it could be a just a little sharper. But only a little, certainly not as much as yesterday's version.
This shiot really has a lot going for it and could be quite special with only a little work. Well done.
Bern.
