I've been waiting for a long time to get some good shots of this Black Shouldered Kite who hunts from the powerlines that run alongside the vlei (marsh) near our house. On Saturday I took a few shots of him sitting on the cables then waited for him to swoop down on his prey. I had previously got a good shot of him swooping but the background was awful, so I was hoping for a better one. This time, however, when he dived off the cable he just descended about a metre then started to hover. Having the camera set on 'sports' mode, I was able to rattle off a good few shots before he flew back up to his perch. This is the best of the bunch.
Thanks for all your comments on my 'Flower Power' shot. I've not been online for a while so I'm just getting round to responding today. Thanks for your patience!
