This was a 'happy accident' shot. I was photographing this African Red Eyed Bulbul eating flower buds from a bush and only when I came to process the shot did I realise I had captured the moment where it tosses its head back and throws the food back into its mouth. In real time it happens so fast you don't notice it.
I had previously captured one of its cousins, a Dark Capped Bulbul, doing the same thing with a raisin in our garden but it was blurred. This time, albeit totally accidentally, I clicked just at the right time.
The shot was taken at Carryblaire River Retreat on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys, Free State, South Africa.
