The river Alt at Hightown great care should be taken on the sands as the mud banks and tides are very dangerous.

I think it's Altcar, near Formby (just north of Liverpool), but I can't be absolutely sure. You can certainly take pictures like this at Altcar, just listen out for the gunfire!

Oh go on then, as it's customary on this site!

I like the fact that the larger sailing boat is on the left third. I, personally, would be tempted to crop the top 20% of the image to draw more attention to the fabulous colours in the sunset, the horizon would still remain on the lower third.

There you go, that didn't hurt at all!

The full frame needs to be kept intact for me as the recession from the dark to warm tones is a key element, along with the recession of boats from left to right.

rule of thirds is often spouted by club judges and is not a thing I particularly go along with and was not a consideration when taking this shot.
