Well on Saturday I went for my usual coffee in Norwich and though I would try out a few more candid shots. I grabbed a few shots of this man quietly reading and liked the bright, light filled background.

I always seem to prefer the mono versions I do with my candid type shots but I can decide on this one, so I will upload my muted colour version too.

Thank you for looking at my photo, I hope you enjoy, and of course all comments and critiques are much appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

I like this and it is a well executed piece of street portraiture. Works well in mono as most images of this type do versus colour which so often doesn't give the same emotion and feel as well as the potential to distract.

I would suggest just cropping off the left side as you view to take out the two stools and table edge which I find distracting. Taking the edge of the frame between the column in the background and these stools seems to add strength to the overall shot when I self crop with a bit of paper over my iPad!

None the less a good example of street photography and appealing.

I think you illustrate my point well now you have added the colour version. The blue dots on the windows and the aubergine colour of the outside parasol create a distraction and takes away the intimacy the mono creates.
