Not the greatest picture of a pheasant but the first that I have captured.I saw it in a field and went to take a shot, the poor bird was bogged down with the mud.My shoes were covered in mud and one got pulled back in the mud.I looked a total mess when I came out of the field.Thank you all for your great comments on my last picture..Lin

Lucky you. Sucking sounds removing a shoe from mud is a small price to pay. Five years ago I may have been able to get this photo. Too late now. They are now wise and stealthy. We can hear the odd one but never see any in the open. The advance of suburbia has a big price. TG

Well worth your effort! Lovely colours and details. He's a handsome looking male. Don't know if it's true but read some time back those with the white band around their throats are the descendants of those brought by the Romans, as it was they who first introduced them to the UK.

Great shot and well done getting it! I tried to get one that turned up most mornings in our garden where we were staying on holiday. Every time I went to get my camera it buggered off! Grin

Not easy to capture this bird - I tried at Centre Parks where I had plenty opportunity
but not not a good image at all!
However your mud filled adventure paid off with a pretty descent image!
The muddy field helps as a b/g being not as green as a grassy field.

A very pleasant pheasant Lin, he's such a proud and handsome bird. It was well worth getting muddy shoes for this, providing they were not too expensive!Wink
