Two excellent images, Effrossini - V2 is my favourite!
I wonder what a squarer crop of V2 would look like - just a thought!

The capture of the sunset starting to appear is very good, nicely atmospheric and supplying a strong sense of place. The detailed V2 strips away the more general interest to concentrate on the quality of the golden reflection and the human counter-subject; in good-humoured fashion it almost becomes a trompe l'oeil suggesting that he could just be photographing the wrong thing!

While I too thing a slight crop of V2 would be advantageous I think both images are excellent efforts and full of character.

Regards
Bill

I saw this coming up on Bill's screen a little while ago and was bowled over. Absolutely beautiful - and I much prefer V1, for the breadth, and the stance of the man on the steps.
I think what I am enjoying is the perfectly balanced asymmetry - it's something that I appreciate.
Plus - isn't it wonderful how random figures can naturally arrange themselves into a perfectly choreographed tableau.

v1 for me, Effrossini. So much of interest in the image and a gateway to it through the middle. The whole image looks so balanced with the spread of people and the light is exquisite. v2 is a strong close in view of the sunset but my vision is pulled from the light/colour to the man with the camera - this tension upsets the balance for me.

To capture the morning - just beautiful light. Good exposure control creating the silhouettes. The light on that left panel is beautiful. I think I prefer the entire view of v1 to the crop of v2.

But, v2 can certainly be caught again, closer, now that you know of that wonderful light on the stone.
