Another image of a December Moth in all it's glory, I've put this one into this months EPZ Winter competition, it probably won't come anywhere, but at least it gives a slightly different angle on the Winter theme with which I'm sure there will lots of beautiful snowy landscapes entered......This is a composite of 60 different images layered and stacked using Zerene to give the final image, it's a shame I clipped the wing somewhat, but it was impossible getting it fully in the frame using this particular lens, but the the detail is where I wanted it the most.....On the wonderful looking feathered antennae.

Many thanks to Malc's (Satireblue), Adrian (Topcat) and Ed's (glostopcats) User Awards yesterday, means a lot guys.....Hope you all enjoy looking at this one as much.

Ade

What sort of distance is the front of the lens from the subject in this type of close-up?

Two-Four inches at x1 magification, at x5 it would be less than an inch!....Depends on the subject and how large the distance is front to back, in this case that would have been about half an inch, hence the large number of separate frames needed to get maximum sharpness!
