Red Bishop (male).
Please excuse me, another quick visit to EPZ, no news yet from the HC but I will keep you posted when I again get mail from them.
In the meantime I was lucky enough to be able to record the mating antics of the Red Bishop and hope you enjoy this cute small bird in action. They are common but not easy to capture as they tend to hide deep in a reed bed. As you can see, when the female approaches, the colourful male goes crazy with excitement, swiftly moving up and down a Reed and puffing out his chest to try and capture the females attention. Sometimes falling off the reed and bouncing up and down with delight as she gets within a meter of his pre prepared nest built deep in the reeds, measures just over 100mm , 4” I think, comical and interesting to see, such an honour to get these images. Apart from sinking in the swamp and creeping slowly, the perfect place for Mozambique spiting Cobra’s to hide and to lose your camera. I had fun to Capture these image so I hope you enjoy…. I have included the female...
Kind Regards to you all, I will be back soon….John
