Not the prettiest of critters, but in some way I find these cockchafers rather appealing. They are around here in their hundreds at present, their noses dug deep into the wild cistus flowers, enjoying the pollen. I have included a bad V.4 just for fun, where I disturbed one feeding, and it took off in disgust Smile

Nice set but imho a little to much exposure ,there`s a fair amount of burnt out areas on all versions.
Maybe faster shutter or a card to shade the critters?

Nice set again Carol and an interesting beastie, it almost appears to have petals on its antennae.

Wonderful detail. And lovely wooden texture in the shield that turns into transparent in no4. Very nice, with no 1 being my preferred pose.
Those antlers are impressive!

Cockchafers are responsible for my aversion agains all creepers. They might be called beautiful - as long as they don't land on me! Superbly detailed set of images, showing some really hairy bugs. Are only the young ones that hairy, or are there different kinds of cockchafers? I remember the ones from my childhood being very shiny.
