Really not sure about this one... It's Pool harbour on a very foggy Saturday morning. It's actually a colour image as the red circle around the speed limit and green (starboard) marker shows.
The shadowy figure is a chap putting his boat into the water right in the middle of the exposure, I think it adds atmosphere, but no doubt it will be like marmite and polarise opinion.
Thanks to all those that clicked and or commented on yesterday's upload.
I think I can see what you were trying to achieve, but I think it needed something else or perhaps a little more definition.................. Sadly I don't have the expertise to say much more than that, but I really do like your style of photography, for which you don't always get the accolade you deserve.
Love this, Mark, but if it were mine (I wish!) I would have made the mast in the centre of the image more 'hazy'. Only my opinion, little that it's worth Carol
Definition looks OK to me.... as does everything else. I think it's superb. I'm going to download it and tell people it's mine.
Nothing needs to be changed, for heaven's sake. ...one wants more definition, another wants less definition... good grief...
Perfect , LOVE it Mark , great shot
See I told you! Anyway, Alan if you do download it get rid of the dust bunny in the top left! Oh I guess I should mention at this point... It's straight out of the camera!
I love it too Mark!
The foreground boat adds mystery to the picture and contrasts (if that's the right word) nicely with the ships in the background which are clear. I like it.
I like the spectral feel to this, Mark, very 'Mary Celeste'. At the risk of upsetting Alan even more did you look at a square/r crop missing out the right side boat and speed sign for an even more ethereal feel.
You don't upset me Dave, you're sensible. And that suggestion, I think, would make for a pretty good variation. Mark??......
Excellent: just love this one.
A beautiful image. I too love it!
Mark, I don't think you realise how good this image is. I absolutely love the surrealism and the creativity. I agree with Dave and Alan about the square crop which will help to isolate the main boat as the central point of interest...an amazing piece of art. Oh, and ICM is the new Sharp!
I'll give it a go later on and upload as a version
I love this Mark very arty , i think the mast and sign act as perfect counterpoints tae the weirder aspects of the image Top notch work
Well I would have been proud to have called it mine
Mark dust bunny and all!
I think it is two pictures Mark--- BOTH very worthy
UA, because it's such a bold departure, and it's worked so well.
Thanks Alan, very much appreciated, especially in view of the dust bunny!
Yes I like vit as it is
Uploaded V2 as discussed... The "mast" on the right third is actually a marker for the slipway.
That's exactly what I had in mind this morning. When Dave suggested the square crop, I visually cropped it to almost exactly how it is now. It's stunning Mark, I love the balance and the mist creates an ethereal feel that is superb. Needs another UA though.
I think this is superb Mark and I do prefer the square crop in v2 - it focuses attention more on the shadowy figure and boat. Cracking image.
Did you say not sure, are you mad......lol.....this is a stunning image mate, looks like one for the wall.
In my opinion a first class job, would have loved to have taken this.......love the 10. Very special shot Mark..........you should have a big smile on your face with this one, if not here....
And so needs another UA ....
Paul..........nice job mate.
Instant appeal - the effect of the f/g boat works so well
and not something I'd ever have thought of or even liked before studying your images.
I'm torn. I like them both. Maybe, on balance, V2. Of course there's always V3, which would be V1 cropped from the other side...
That crop is destined for the Trash Alan! Naughty of you!!!
V1 wins for me.. Love it.. Mystical, surreal....liked it even on the thumbnail...
v2 all the way, Mark, perfect.
A great atmospheric shot -- and perfect title.
very Ethereal Mark, prefer v1 the wider view, nice work.
Very good work! Wonderful composition!
