I was out on an early morning 'safari' with my very good friend Richard aka Doghouse when we were fortunate enough to spot quite a large flock of Goldfinch- some adult but mostly juveniles and must have been about twenty of them. Spotting them was easy (thro bino's) but the trick was, as always, getting close enough to them to get a halfway decent shot. No matter how carefully we moved they were always just that bit out of range. Eventually they decided to ignore us and settled on a large clump of thistles and were soon tucking into their breakfast; we were then able to move in.
They had settled on a really thick clump of thistle and I have quite deliberately made no attempt to clone any of the plant as it seemed to me to emphasise how much there was of it.
I hope you will enjoy and large if you have time.
As ever my most grateful thanks for all C/C's on the Willow Warbler.

Lovely shot, Ron. I thought Richard's was good, but yours has a sting in the tail!
Lucy
Wow two birds and a bee - wonder what else is nestling amongst those thistles. Great image and sharp!

this is outstanding... love that you left the shot as is...
They couldn't have sat better for you Ron, the scene is full of detail and colour, fine image, Adrian
So pleased that you left it as you shot it Ron, it looks so natural for them to be there like that.
Beautiful colours & fantastic composition...love the bee.
Hilary
Superb wonderfil colours and details. Greay composition.
Ron, I think you have excelled here, not only an excellent shot, but a Bee as well. For me it's one of your best shots and one to be proud of. Very pleased for you.
Geoff.
This is more like a painting than a photograph. An artist can have more than one bird, some flowers for colour and effect, and a butterfly or even a bee for extra interest. A photographer is, I suppose, an artist too, but everything has to come magically together for him, which it does here.
A fine shot of these female finches, such excellent composition and colours. You've done extremely well to catch two in the shot
What is there left for me to say Ron?? Great work, and a very eye catching image, well done!!
Fran
This is an outstanding image Ron, the way you have caught the birds back to back and the wasp just flying off is such perfect timing. The lovely splash of colour with the thistles and the OOF background, all in all a super shot. Wish I hadn't just given my user award away for this week.
Fran
Had another look at this Ron, and think it's worth a little more than just a vote.
Regards,
Geoff.
What a lovely arrangement! As if sitting there to have their pic taken!

Are you sure this isn't a standard arrangement set up for porcelain birds? I mean wow, you just couldn't arrange this better if you trained 'em.... respect.... helen x
Well I spose that it is alright......haha nah it is good, well composed! An Peter Oak needs a parrot to complete his Long John Silver theme that he is going for! haha
