My intent when I shot this was to simply record a typical day in my mother's life - the counting of days came later while I was processing the image.
Thanks for looking,
And she was busy cooking for you while you took this? A very good look into her tidy surroundings........Sandy
A house wife's work is never finished A great image
What a lot of days and still hard at work to boot!
Great b/w image. And a very tidy kitchen!!
A long life, keeping busy keeps you young.
Yes, I like to take an image in before I read anything... My first thought - the contrast between the contrived artifice on the screen and real life.
A top class composition, Anne, so much to look at in the image, and a perfect presentation. Carol
She certainly surrounds herself in beauty.
A fine piece of work and impressive in classic black 'n white.
I like the inclusion of the tv here...!
.... a natty set of 'marigolds' as well . Impressive depth of field, Anne.
An image to relish - a lovely scene.
NRK Dagsryven. Nothing says 'Norway' more to an insider than that, Anne!
Kjøttkaker, potetstappe og surkål being made for dinner?
Anne, I wouldn't have thought to try a shot like this but this is wonderful on so many levels.
There is the personal but universal level of an image of mother preparing a meal.
As an photo it has so much going for it. The story of a lifetime -- and maybe of generations is told here. It is amazing to see that TV in the same shot with the spinning wheel.
Your conversion is great -- keeping warm tones throughout -- in the real world and the TV picture.
A real life documentary wonderfully observed and recorded.
Never mind Big Brother, it is a case of big Daughter...
I am in awe. First, at the brilliant concept and idea.
Second, at the sheer beauty of the image. The deep focus, perfect exposure throughout, clean tones and crisp light...wowww.
Well done, Anne. I wish I had two user awards to give out today
I love the tones in this, so crisp and clear. I love the depth to the image as we work out way from the TV right to the kitchen in the back. And the lampshade is so retro.
Ha ha, nicely done Anne.
Thanks so very much for the receiving this image so well. It is of course very personal for me, so objectivity is out the window so to speak. I just knew that I wanted it in my PF here.
Thanks especially to both Walter and Chris for their UA's which are deeply appreciated.
When I saw the thumb I wasn't expecting too much but I am pleased to say how wrong I was. This is very, very good. Extremely well composed it manages to be both ordinary and exceptional. It tells a story of everyday life that we all can relate too. An outstanding image Anne.
This is just sooooooooooooooo brilliant - well done - beautifully conceived and beautifully captured. Please accept my UA - such a delight to see such an inspirational image.
a scene of simple domesticity ..... captured as you know how... and superbly processed and presented.
been a few years since I seen a black & white TV though
Oh my, another UA! Thanks so very much Sue!!
I love this, a true moment of someones daily life captured in a single frame and in a split second.
Obviously a truly memorable shot for you in itself Anne, but also a fine shot by any other standard too, well deserving of the awards!
Have just done the math and I reckon your mother is approaching her 91st. birthday, and still active in the kitchen, quite remarkable!
Interesting thought, where is my calculator!
Plenty of detail here Anne, good light suits Mono very well, like it, regards Leon.
