1. a philosophical question: what would we have had achieved by the world's end? nothing and absolutely nothing..
we will stand naked and empty and defenseless.. we would just see our end, enthralled, and then no knowledge will come to save us.. he is watching the world's end, enthralled..
2. spiritual point of view: he was as though waiting for the end for so long.. he sees a liberation in it.. he expects a higher form of existence after it.. a sense of unification.. and he does not look troubled.. at the moment of destruction and death, he feels the pleasure of being in a paradise..
3. it means to say destruction is just a part of existence..
image is simple.. but meaning is deep with numerous possibilities at many levels.. and one which forces to look beyond existence, and tells us the truth how little we are beyond the spheres of our ordinary lives..
Not only very well contrived but quite deep and meaningful.
What is happening here?...who is that man?.... is it even human....where is he going?..........is it me?
If I spend any more time looking at it for an answer I'll be late for work!
creative and clever ......=.....Source.
