Took the chance of a bit of sun and got out there with one of the dogs for a play with my new DSLR, I'm, pleased with the result, but would welcome any constructive criticism.
Thanks for looking.

Great alert expression and good overall exposure.
Ian
A good portrait of your dog; the low viewpoint gives emphasis to the animal and removes distracting elements. The only 'improvement' I'd suggest is lightening the dog's face slightly. Fill in flash -1.5 EV would be my choice (but I don't know how animals might react to this). Alternatively it could be done in the digital darkroom.

Wonderful dog and a great portrait. The problem with shooting this low and looking up is that the sky can take over the exposure so it needs to be adjusted, but not too much as you can see the back of the dog is showing highlights from the sunshine. I might have shot from the dogs head height and more from the right at an angle. Also would have been nice to have a little more space to the right of the dog
Richard

Thank you Chris and Richard for the tips, and thanks for the comments.
I agree with your comment about more space to the right, problem is in this shot there wasn't any more space, point taken though, need to step back a space a two to give more space for cropping in future.

Lovely shot, lovely dog... I'm with Richard re the difficulty of getting the exposure at that angel... nice detail in the head
Jon
My own opinion is that more space to the right would reduce the strong diagonal you have in this. ![]()
