I think butterflies in general have had a very hard summer 2012, much like this one. Most I've seen around here seem to have damaged wings but a joy to see them at last all the same.

What I have discovered over the past few weeks or so, is not to go chasing them. Simply sit down in a meadow or the like, and all of a sudden you start to tune in with your surroundings, and before long a whole array of such creatures begin to appear.
