I went to see the A4 pacific No 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley at Lock Lane Level Crossing at Sawley, Nottingham today. The train was going from Kidderminster on the The Severn Valley Railway to Lincoln and then on to Doncaster. Lock Lane signal box (tower) is scheduled to close in October and will then most likely be demolished, so I decided to attempt a classic A4 shot and also tried to give the box and it's gates equal weight in the picture. I've therefore uploaded three different crops of the locomotive in front of the box. This was one of those occasions when Lady Luck smiled on me, because the camera stopped her in just the right place and with her big end on the bottom. Also, there was a guy who happened to be just passing and was not a railway enthusiast, but decided to stay and watch her go by and was looking over the fence on the right of the picture. I suspect he would have found his dinner in the dog when he got home !!!

Spike.

Nice set of shots. I think I like V3 best for the close up detail.

Impeccable timing to get the loco between the fence on the left and the corner of the box. Can't choose between V1 And V2 cos I like the inclusion of the spectator. Just a couple of bits I'd clone out for total perfection. That rainwater pipe growing out the chimney and the black box around the buffer on the right.
Top drawer shot.

Definitely V2. Undoubtedly one of the best A4 pictures I've seen on epz.
