Took last Thu off and used some hotel points to take my daughter into the city for the busker-fest and book shopping. From the hotel room had a great view of a path cutting across an abandoned lot. When I was in uni it used to have a bunch of slum apartments for the student crowd, so I guess the local authority finally wised up and tore it down!
First go at a 'zoom blur' which I've read about but never attempted before (this is probably take 34!). Kind of neat you focus zoomed in then twist your zoom to a wider angle while pressing the shutter. Needs a speed slow enough to blur the zoom without losing too much detail on the center. A heavy camera with light zoom helps! Probably a tripod would have helped more ![]()

Thanks Jenn. This was taken at 1/10th of a second with the aperature closed down a bit for some depth of field. Can't honestly remember now whether I when from zoomed out to in or in to out! EXIF says 55mm which is zoomed in on that lens so maybe I went from wide to zoom...

Hmmm, I think the beigey-bit is actually the sidewalk that goes around the abandoned lot on the left and top sides.
To eliminate reflections from inside the room, I actually put my camera on the outside of the curtains. Couldn't do anything about the sidewalk tho ![]()
