One of the other things I played around with during my online sabbatical was building a 'Pringles' macro. You basically take a fitted cap for your camera body, epoxy it to the metal bottom of a Pringles chip (or in England, crisp) container. After it dries, put a spade bit of about 1" on your trusty drill and go through the center. So now you can affix the (empty!) can to your camera. On the open end I carefully cut a circle in the removable top to tightly grip a spare old manual focus/manual exposure lens. A bit of old sock around the kit lens to snug the fit and viola! An extension tube. Focus is through moving either the camera or the object a millimeter one way or the other.... Depth of field is about nothing....
This was one of my shots. I thought it looked like you were coming up on the moon (hence the title), however it is actually a golf ball that came into reach of my rig.
Have a good one!
Doug

Hi Doug,
I didn't think it was a golf ball, thought it was a finger shape in a dough or something like that............lol.Although i do agree that the shape is too smooth to have been dough, but that's what i thought. Have you thought of using ladies nylons or grease proof paper instead of old socks, that's what they used to put over the lens to stop the wrinkles showing so much.........lol.Good idea,i think it's still in progress though.take care,Ann![]()
