Quite a while ago I uploaded a shot of this street organ, but as an abstract image. Today I thought that I would upload a face-on image. I just love all the shapes, colours and textures of this, and think it also works well in mono (V2). Also uploaded is another detail from the organ (V3) and also in mono (V4). Finally, V5 is a full shot of the whole organ.

I have enabled Mods on this one, as I know some of you do like to play!

Thanks for all your comments and very helpful tips on my Railway Art upload. It is so good of you all to take the time and trouble.

Carol

Excellent! I want colour for all those warm tones, but the b&w conversions are strong. Love the way you've isolated satisfying compositions out of the bigger scene.

Great shots, so much detail. Love the closer crop in V1..but you have chopped the poor dragons nose off on the left.

A fine-looking instrument as were so many fairground organs. Gaudin et Cie. were the makers rather than the fairground operators, which rather surprised me.
The details come over extremely well in black & white as well as in colour, which rather surprised me too!

I know! Unfortunately there were people standing there when I took the shot, and it wasn't until I got it up on the screen that I realised they had partially blocked the nose! That will teach me to take my time with the composition in the first instance! A lesson hopefully well learnt!

Maybe I should have left the people in to give it a sense of scale, Barbara. It was really large! If you can imagine that the figure in Vs 3 and 4 was about 2-3 feet tall you can estimate the size of the organ!

A nice collection here, I particularly like version two and although its an essentially colourful subject the mono suits the lines very well.
