The Barn Owl (tyto alba)
A beautiful Owl that is high on my list of favourite birds.
Barn Owls are mostly nocturnal but may well be seen before sunset if they have young to feed. Catches voles, mice, rats and the occasional small bird.
I hope you will like it.
Many thanks to all the people that managed to vote/comment on the previous Eagle Owl and, as ever, particular thanks to Richard (dickspics) Peter (handlers studio) and Mike (mike smith) for the most welcome UA's. Thanks everyone.

Ron

A wonderful image of a bird which is also one of my favourites.
You have done well here, Ron, taken in shade, but still getting a catchlight.
I also like the colour rendition and your detailing is always perfect.

Happy Easter, Ron.

Well I can reply to your compliment, how on earth did you spot this one? I always admire people who manage to get a picture of an owl, took me ages to get a tucan or a woodpecker at home. Still haven't managed a hoopoo !
