Took this in the dark against a black bg with a torch for lighting with the camera mounted on a tripod and a remote release. I'd tried something similar a while ago, but wanted to do something a bit more abstract. I've used a square crop, and tweaked the levels slightly and backlit in elements to give it a more even tone.

This has turned out well, Paul, but I (and this is just me - doesn't mean it's the best way to go) would've centered it and turned the apple slightly so that the little speckly white bit at the bottom would be in shadow.

The speckly bit is just me being picky, though. All too often I'll turn a subject to present its best side and THEN notice later on on the computer that I should've taken care of something else like a piece of fluff I hadn't seen on the cam's LCD, etc.
