This is the next in my series of Birds of Prey portraits. This beautiful example is a Brahminy Kite, another from the extensive collection at the ICBP in Newent Gloucestershire. I think the family of Kites are one of the most beautiful species of Birds of Prey around. I hope you like him as much as I do and that I've managed to to do him some justice. I know taking portraits of captive Birds of Prey is not exactly difficult and many people don't rate it but I enjoy it and like to think that I bring out some of the character of the bird in my portraits.
Many thanks for all your C&C's on my previous uploads.
I thought I might have more time to leave comments but job hunting is very tireing and time consuming as I've found out. So if I have missed you, apologies, I'm still voting as time allows though.
Best wishes for a lovely weekend and I hope the weather is suitable for you all to get out and get some wonderful images.
Steve.

Your portraits of these great birds are all magnificent. This one is another beauty with great detail and a beady eye fixed on the photographer.

Captive or not, you have captured this kite so well, Steve. The detail in the plumage is so good and your shot demonstrates the intense gaze the birds of prey have.
All success to you in the job hunting....such a problem for so many, esp. in the current climate.
Ronnie.

Nice shallow DOF Steve, and very nicely lit portrait and detail.

Good luck with the job hunt, i know it is very time consuming.

Your portaits of these birds of prey are all excellent, as is this one! Beautiful detail, tones and light. My thoughts are with you re job hunting. It must be soul destroying at the present time. My son, who fortunately is still in employment, has been searching for other work for ages now, so I know how you must feel. All my very best. Hope you find something just right for you very soon!

Very good studt Steve and like the dark bg bring the subject out
Might have tried another stop to maximise dof to get the feathers on the top into field of view. When captive like this you have the luxury of experimenting with various settings which go unnoticed on the camera screen but apparent when you process

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and thanks to Richard for his good idea. I must admit I was more concerned with getting the exposure right with the mix of sunshine and white feathers and wasn't concentrating on dof, but i'm still learning.
Steve.
