These are a pair of Lion-Tailed Macaque's, part of a family group of adults and youngsters of various ages. The adult male looks as though he should be holding a microphone and comparing a reality show. The young male was obviously checking out his green's to see if he liked or disliked the look of them.
These Macaque's live in the rainforests of south-west India and are highly endangered and again because of man. Only some 3,000 remain in the wild, divided into 50 populations isolated by deforestation and cultivation, mainly of Tea and Coffee in large plantation's. They live the majority of their life in trees and, unlike other Macaque's, avoid human contact. Their long-term survival, in the small populations, stands very little chance. Let us all hope they are not lost to history and only seen in books. On the bright side there are many breeding programs in place to help them survive.
Many thanks for your continuing support and all the C&C's on my images. I hope you like these too.
Best wishes,
Steve.
