The Dhole or more commonly known as the Asiatic Wild Dog, found in woodland and open country in restricted areas of the Indian sub-continent, China and south-east Asia.
These were the 'Red Dogs' of Kipling's Jungle Book. They live in packs, usually 5 to 12 and hunt mostly in daylight. Their varied diet includes Lizards, rodents, deer, wild pigs, mountain sheep and animals as large as Water Buffalo.
Habitat destruction, reduced prey and man's persecution has put them on the threatened and vulnerable species list.
They remind me very much of our own Foxes but are larger and stockier with denser fur.
I hope you like him, I think he is stunning and it would be a great shame to lose such a beautiful animal in the wild.
Hope you all had a great weekend. Many thanks for all the C&C's on my images.
Steve.

- the "in your face" element of this shot gives it genuine quality -

the fact it's not sharp reduces the impact

ce'st la vie. Smile
