Just a quick upload again. This time another Owl, a European Eagle Owl.
Many thanks for the support, clicks and comments on my previous uploads, all very much appreciated.
It's only my photography that keeps me sane, it's very depressing trying to find a job in today's climate.
I hope you all have a good weekend and the weather stays fine for you all, wherever you are.
Best wishes,
Steve.

An excellent study here Steve, very well done indeed.
Unfortunately I may also be joining the ranks of the unemployed soon, as our company are making about 170 people redundant - I hope you find something very soon.

Quote: Excellent shot, what does it mean when the ears are down?

Hi Ann, they aren't actually ears but feather tufts. A bird's ears are on the side of the head not on the top where these feather tufts are located. By erecting these tufts of feathers, a more distinct outline suddenly becomes visible. This may allow pairs of birds (or families with young) to silently keep track of each other's presence, communicating by erecting and lowering these feathers. These tufts may also serve as signals to potential enemies by making the owl suddenly seem larger and more of a threat when the feathers become fully erect atop the head.
Steve.

The lovliest of owls - so expressive I always think - beautifully captured Steve.

My thoughts are with you on the job front - it is awful at the moment - something will turn up I am sure - just don't give up and, most importantly, never stop believing in yourself xx
