These will be the last three images from the series of Auschwitz/Birkenau. Many thanks for all the comments on my previous uploads. I hope you have found them interesting and thought provoking. I hope I haven't upset anybody by showing these, this was not my intension and I know, that they would not be to many peoples liking.

V1. The infamous tower that stands at the entrance of Birkenau where the crammed trains passed through.
V2. The main street lined by the brick built Dormatories at Auschwitz.
V3. The Chambers where so many ceased to exist.

Many thanks and have a great weekend,
Best wishes,
Steve.

My Polish roots feel the anguish even now.
V2 is the most moving for me
Tho' at first V1 looked like a ghost was walking there to me

I think with this series you have told a story that is not a happy one for any of us particularly the unfortunate men woman and children that were taken to and never return from this hell on earth and for their families that survived.

I for for one have enjoyed being shown the place and pray to god that no one will ever have to suffer this treatment again.

Regards. - gary

I can never decide if these places should be knocked down or left as a reminder of the horrors man can inflict.
Again you've captured the cold haunting look of the place in these images superbly Steve.

A powerful and thought provoking set of images and a reminder of something that must never be allowed to happen again. This series has been captured with sensitivity and compassion, no one can fail to be moved by them.

There are those who would like to re-write history and miss out the horrors - for them I would leave the buildings - generations will come where no-one remembers otherwise.
3 more very powerful images - silence again permeating the whole place. Those gates are almost magnetic - I feel drawn to them and beyond.
Wonderful work, sensitively handled and with a powerful message

Ps-- this weekend we celebrate Memorial Day--- commemorating our war casualties--A good friend of ours was a transulator who officiated at the surrender of Birkenau--- brought tears to himself and others when he told us about it.....

Superb shot, the atmosphere of evil and despair the unfortunate inmates must have felt, is almost tangible. Leave it standing, so no one can forget what happened there, or deny it happened.

If people like yourself keep telling the story, it might just stop it happening again. This has been a fine series of images.

It must have been an extraordinarily moving and painful experience visiting this sight and imagining the horrors that were perpetrated there: your B and W treatment of these shots seems so appropriate, each so well captured. Just wish mankind would learn from the mistakes of the past, but it seems a forlorn hope.
Ronnie.
