I've not been around much of late, too much work and not enough play Sad and now to top that I have a trapped nerve in my back which has left me flat on my back.

I was lucky enough to photograph a beautiful young lady during the Christmas break and this is one of the results.

I hope you like it.

Best wishes,
Steve.

nice portrait,

i like that you have used the surface blur, but try doing it on a duplicated layer and rubbing out the hair and eyes on blurred layer, it will make it look more engaging and eye catching, as the skin will be soft, but the details still sharp

She has such lovely eyes. Thought the comment from Amanda above very interesting and something to attempt once that back of yours improves.

Well critiqued by Amanda Steve. Overall good composition but to me a little too soft with the eyes and hair and just above her top lip. In close did you focus on the closest eye. Also I would be very interested d in what lighting you used as in a controlled situation you do not need an ISO of 800.
Also by going to about F8 or 11 would give you that little bit more dog to give her more impact.

Thanks for all your kind comments and critique. I will experimant with layering techniques, Amanda.
And Richard, I unfortunately had very little control over the lighting, it was a naturally lit enviroment with a couple of reflectors and a small fill-in light.
At the moment I am without the use of a studio or studio lighting and the day suddenly became overcast and dull. The light in the room dropped dramatically and I opted to raise the ISO to compensate as I didn't want to create too shallower dof with too wider aperture. It was a situation where I had to sacrifice one or the other. You win some, you lose some.
Steve.

Thanks Adrian, but I had no control over make-up or clothing for that matter Grin, just the posing and the background, outside of the camera.

I agree with Adrian, she is very beautiful but she has spoilt her beauty with the excessive eyebrow makeup Sad But a lovely portrait overall SmileSmile
Hope your back feels better soon
