Second in my series of 'Out of my Comfort Zone' experiments. This time candid shots of people. These were taken on a recent trip to Beaulieu in the house and grounds. I'm not sure how good they are but your opinions, good or bad are very much appreciated. The Parlour Maid in traditional dress and the Lord of the Manor with his Estate manager.
Many thanks for C&C's on my uploads every single one is very much appreciated.
I haven't had much time to comment myself lately but I will always endeavor to catch up with you as soon as I can.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
Steve.

I'm not mad about the second image tbh - it isn't all that well balanced and the elements aren't giving much of a narrative or emotional resonance.

The first image is far more successful IMO - there's a nice atmosphere and considering there's such a wide dynamic range, the important bits of the subject are pretty well exposed. I do think there's probably too much of the dark landing to the left of the image, which for me pulls the overall tonal balance too much away from the figure. The modification is mostly done to show how it might look cropped. I don't think the toning adds anything at all to your original, but it's there simply as an alternative take.

You get my vote for image #1!

Two very good shots particularly v1 - I agree with ChrisV's mod but I think it may be better in a b&w mono

Good work with V1, Steve. Perfectly exposed for contrast in dark & light without bleaching the white. Well done.
V2 would have been better imo if you could have made more of a feature of that wonderful old car.

Steve, both are wonderful! V1 ia my favorate because I really love what you have done with the light and shadows here. And you have still succeeded in keeping the sharpness in the face and hands when viewed large. God bless, Patti

Hi Steve, This one is very well composed and the light gives it a 'whow' factor. Being in the right place at the right time!!! Great.
