I too was captivated by the lighting. I usually use an old, cheap (£5.00) second hand external flash, or digital slave flash on a bracket- budget won't run to a ring flash. This picture was a rare one where I used natural light- around 7.30 pm last night, some sunshine, but low in the sky. i think it helps greatly that this is a white faced bee,. Many have dark faces, and when using flash, the background too is often very dark,
I'll be trying more with natural light.
