I was playing with this image when a track appeared playing on my ipod in shuffle mode from the Riceboy Sleeps album I thought it was a coincidence. Boy in title - piano in tune. So this is dedicated to Jonsi and Alex and here's the song...Riceboy Sleeps - All The Big Trees

This has a very moody feel to it created in most part by the processing. The very tight framing of the face creates a strong image with the reflections in the goggles adding a mysterious undertone.
I always try to avoid looking at the photographer's name before I decide to vote/comment so I was surprised when I saw whose it was - perhaps I shouldn't have been. This is the first of your images that I have come across since joining the site and I hope that it is not the last.
Really needs to be seen large to fully appreciate all that's going on. Great tonal quality and I like the playful reflections.
Intriguing title and a suitably intriguing image to go with it Pete. And it suits the rather mystical quality of the music too. The reflection in the left spectacle lens looks a teensy bit light to my eyes, maybe run a grad across it to darken towards the edge of the image? All in all though this is a very good looking pic.

very powerful image, has a real futuristic feel to it
Quality tune. Works so well with the image. Really like the processing and the reflections in his goggles. Very powerful viewed large.
Quote: I hope this gets picked up by the guest editor.
Is this a first? Not the reason, just think it's a fabulous piece of work.

A good gritty appearance to this Pete! Like it!

Blimey that was a good response. Thanks for all your really thoughtful comments...they lift me... like the music.
Also big thanks to DaveU a useful suggestion. I did a flat opacity blend...a gradient would indeed be an improvement.
Blimey and my first award...thanks very much ![]()
Lovely work Pete, re the track, it's amazing what atmosphere can be created with just 3 notes, sounds like G, Bb G Eb
, never heard the track, thanks for the link,
Geoff.
