I went back to Marienplatz station, in Munich, last week. I had the Olympus Pen with me and was curious to see how it would perform compared to a DSLR.
This is the result...
This was taken last year with a Nikon D80, DSLR

2 pics shortlisted in 1 week. these (the invisible cleaner and this one) are both fantastic photos, in which you really used the setting to full effect. And very much impressed of the smooth, crisp quality of both shots. Really need to get myself one of these new little cams, but I think I may go for the sony nex5 because of the (more or less) tilt screen

Thanks Koen,
I appreciate the UA and comment! This is a great camera, I sold my D80 on e-bay and bought this. The only limitation I find is the reaction time from pressing the shutter to the camera taking the photo (and no manual focus) this was actually my first outing with the camera. I normally use it for snaps of the kids.

allthough I assume it's a bit slowish compared to most dslr's, is it faster than most compacts you think?
again, the quality is really great. did you clean up the shot in pp, or did it basically come out of the cam so crisp? your "Olympia"-photo seems to suffer much more from noise. higher iso, or did you take that one with a different camera?
photo quality of the nex5 seems impressive enough to go for it... but I'm a bit in doubt about the lenses they offer. seems a bit like the weak point for the nex-5

I think it is a bit slower

I only adjusted the colours

Same camera same iso, "Olympia" was at zoomed max across the station at 42mm and then cropped most of the photo away. This is @14mm no crop

wow... that really surprises me. I always thought/understood these bridge cameras were slower than most dslr, but quicker than most compacts ![]()
bit of a set back if you're into street photography
