A good attempt at a fast moving sport, shows the aggression of the game. The focus is maybe a tiny bit soft, hard to tell from the small image, Colour is good. One of the "primary" goals in sports is to get the ball in, that would have been a bonus, nevertheless, a good attempt and a fine image. As a sideline, rochdale lacrosse????

You don't say, but looking at the shot I guess that your histogram is slightly to the right. You could probably have compensated negatively for the metering to just tone down the bright highlights. This also has the effect of muting the Background a touch. Oh and the shutter speed goes up too if you're using AP mode.

My eyes were taken straight to the orange rectangle of the goal rather than the main subject, Maybe you could tone the orange down a bit in photoshop. Otherwise I think you've caught the action quite nicely.

From the list of your equipment I take it that this was a manual focus shot, I know how hard it is working that way so nice job done.

Do you play or just watch?

My advice would be to give yourself a few target images and wait for them, anticipate the action and be ready for it. Have a look at musicmates profile as well.

I use to play for Ashton in Manchester so it brings back some memories, great shot of the action.
