I wanted to create a starlet in waiting look with this photograph. The light breaks in through a chink in the window and highlights the waiting actress.

I made two versions. Don't be afraid to comment.

V1 for me, i like the blue moon light effect. though the light high lights on her face look harsh, could she wear more face powder or could her face be lit with a soft light? Her expression is deep and thoughtful. The dress and outfit is great but could we see all of the skirt next time? it seems a little cramped in the lower left corner. her right foot shoe is lost in the black. Still its the best photo i've seen so far tonight. Cheers.

Top comment Stuart. You are bang on the money. We had a number of brand new challenges this session. I will list.
1. The light meter was not available so we struggled to place the light in the right place which still should have been good enough however something was not quite right.
2. We think it may have been that the models skin base may have absorbed the light resulting in the face being a different colour from the neck.
3. Shoe did get completely lost in the black. in fact it was made of a similar material to the black drape on the ground.
4. I needed to give the whole pic more room to breathe however deleted the panaramic view in error. Life sucks.

I have learnt more from the last two shots then I have form any shot in a long time.

I am an amateur which is why I make these mistakes and many pros will throw their hands up in disbelief but learning makes this just that little bit more fun. There will be a monitor in the room next time so we can see any basic problems before a session gets closed and a new sekonic is on the way.

In no way are you amatuer you have a consistent and very good style - i particulatly like "Engage with me" in your portfolio.
