A wonderful candid with loads going on. An image which holds many possible narratives, "my kind of candid?"

Neat bit of social history. I started off wondering if a square crop would be stronger but having looked at this for a bit I think it benefits from space, detail.

Nearly half a sec, handheld... impressive, Malc. Excellent detail and so much going on in the image.

I'm so pleased that you have decided against being old, Malc. I'm coming up 63 and trying hard to be young (I never was young enough to be juvenile Smile)

Has to be the newspaper for me; Le Monde suits me fine but I need a spare week as it's far wordier than our broadsheets.
A smart phone is only as smart as its user, which to judge by the denizens of the 9.03 a.m. bus to Newcastle on Saturdays is - "not very". My own mobile phone serves only as a timepiece.
I used to like BBC teletext with my breakfast cereal, until Auntie decided to run the text over the right half of the screen only: the result of which is to drive me to reading the text over Cbeebies as the male breakfast news tv presenter always sits on the un-texted side gurning silently at the camera while the female remains concealed by the text . . . or maybe they have some nonentity of a 'celebrity' disturbing my digestion instead. Scooby-Doo is more entertaining and, frankly, usually makes more sense; if it were Daffy Duck (my hero!!!) I wouldn't bother reading the text at all . . .

Sorry for the digression: just think what delights you are missing on yon side of the North Sea!

Love the very strong, stark b&w conversion you have used, the subject itself and the scooterist branché in the f/g. Incidentally, he acts as what the Fine Art word apparently calls a repoussoir, a person or object in the extreme foreground, usually on one side of the frame, whose presence forces your eye back to the centre of the frame. Learn something new every day - I just did!

Regards
Bill

There's so much detail in this image but somehow it doesn't look cluttered. An interesting shot.

What a congested kiosk with so much to take in, all recorded in extra fine detail, Malc: inclusion of the cyclist with his mobile is a nice contrast with the longer standing method of gathering info.
Ronnie.

I can understand why yu chose monochrome Malc, this image must be a riot of colour with all the postcards and suchlike. A very compact wee shoppie which must be packed away into it's box every night. I was intrigued by Bill's comment, especially as I thought I had spied him in the bikers wing mirror???
