I went up to Lochindorb on my half day this week. It's probably the most isolated parts of my practice area where patients still live (a farmer and a gamekeeper I think) and lies just outside the national park. The road was still unploughed. I hoped for some ice on the loch but being so exposed and windswept the ice was piled up at one end of the loch and not in a pretty way. Instead I went for the 'lone tree' composition. It was really cold although the background hill was enjoying some sunshine.

Really like this. Good comp and lovely sky.

This is an area of the Highlands we've never got around to exploring for photos. Looks like we should pay it a visit Smile

Like the comp, the cold feeling I get from looking at this.....and that sky. It may be the lay of the land, but I just get this feeling that it is sloping slightly from the left down to the right.....though it could be just me Wink

WoW, what a great place to live near! I love the composition with the shore line leading up to the tree and great foreground interest.

You were well rewarded for your trip with this image.
I'm impressed that you make house visits to your patients.

Wow this is just one of your best! Love it!
I am wearing the same glasses as Martin and agree it needs a bit of a tweak .. horizon line on left there behind tree is a bit skewiff.. that aside, 10/10 Smile So much so I am gonna boot you!

Wow Jeanie, thanks for the compliment and UA! SmileSmile
Thank you all for your comments John, Sue, Martin, Jude, Joline and Herman!

As for the sloping horizon Martin and Jeanie Grin, I think I see what you mean. My hotshoe spirit level seemed to be spot Wink on and I wonder if it's the curve at the head of the loch giving it that sloping appearance? I'll have a fiddle in PS and see if it corrects, will post a version if it does!

We still do in the UK Joline but only for those too frail or acutely ill to make it in to the practice. I had to ski to a home visit 3 years ago. Smile

Actually I think moving the horizon (a little less than on my uploaded version) does enhance it. Thanks guys! Smile

Didn't even notice the horizon in the original, but agree it looks better now you've straightened it.

I like the fact that it is not one of the usual scenes we see from up here - definitely going to search it out now though Smile

There's a fair amount to shoot around here Sue but I guess you need to do your research first to be able to get to the best bits. Lochindorb features a couple of times in my portfolio, it has a castle on an island (Wolf's Lair inmy portfolio). Happy to offer suggestions if you ever make the journey! Smile
