Playing with 'letterbox' crop/framing on macro shots. Does it work? Thanks for viewing.

Beautiful.
I think letterbox was introduced to film because with having two eyes aligned horizontally we view things more in a horizontal plane than vertical or square, so a greater width than height is often a better choice. Certainly seems to work here.

A superb shot, well composed and presented with good use of narrow DOF to blur background. The pink flowers compliment the background green well. click
It works for me. I spent all day yesterday trying to get a butterfly shot and failed. Well done
Love the shot and love the framing, an excelent picture..
Regards

Wonderful clarity and dof control, excellent colour and detail. Well done Su, a real beauty.
I think it worked so well I stole the idea for my upload, sorry hope you dont mind!? ![]()
The framing and presentation is good but its the image that takes centre stage for me. I can see why Pete gave it an HC, it has a lovely composition, the subject is pin sharp and the colours combine nicely with the flower.
Was it taken in the wild?

Now this is how to do a butterfly shot the proffessional way, superb Su.
