Cheryl, it's a Nikkor AF-300 ED-IF, got it secondhand (99% mint condition) for about USD1,500.00.

Thanks Su. Been considering a second-hand one, but you've got to be lucky to get one that's looked after, which you obviously have. If not might have to save a bit for the VR beastie.

Your images with the lens have so much more depth than mine with the 120-300, especially when convertors are added to both.

Nice one Su, if you'd had the bird a little higher and to the left in the frame I think it would have been a stronger composition (and persuaded Pete to EC?)

Just your average HC sunbird! Yes, you could move it around in the frame but it is still a high quality shot regardless of where it is. It seems fine where it is.
