I do like it Peter, a nice simple shot.

It can be improved with a little work, especially if you clone out an evidence of red which you can see, as red attracts the eye like a magnet. This allows the flower to be the only focal point. Recomposing with the flower more to the left, and adding some contrast and sharpening helps also.

Ive done this in my mod, and also added soome more blur to the background. For more blure out of the camera, you can use a wider aperture (smaller number), though 5.6 is nice and sharp for your kit lens, - or use the same aperture with a longer lens, - the longer the focal length, the shallower the depth of field.

I actually quite like this as you have presented it, compositionally and background blur level. I would only give it a very slight contrast boost and you have a fine record.
