Out sitting waiting for this beautiful Roe doe and this Woodcock woke up and stretched its wings, I think it's a Woodcock but that beak looks a bit fat? It could be a duck but then the beak looks a bit long? it's on a river bank and the doe is across the river

Looks like a woodcock to me Jon
The colours and wing markings look more woodcock than a teal or mallard

This is great up large. We tend to miss the bird from the smaller version. What a great catch - and love the look on the deer's face.
