Well - this is my first attempt at getting rid of extraneous detail and it was a lesson in patience! There was a car behind those gates (at the time I'd waited ages but he was parked for the day!)and a diagonal bar ... rather than cloning I used a series of cut and pastes. Have also played around with the cropping - originally there was more black surround and the image was dead centre.

Nice shot Suzi.........No cold Tea in this one then. It's a 4 from me.
Steve - you think it's that sellable?
thanks for that ..
It would be good to build up some bread & butter stuff but what I need to do is work on making sure the quality is right. Going by requirements I'm nowhere near ready to submit the reproductive quality they want .. so that looks like the next logical step ..
Good grief G3 - steady on .. LOL!!! But thanks - very kind and I really appreciate your comments
.. and thanks too Neil .. I am looking into my originals now and seeing what I can do about getting some samples ready for sending to magazines .. I don't have anywhere near enough images for stock or anything, but perhaps I can get a pic editor or two interested ..
Excellent eradication of the car you mentioned Suzi, patience certainly paid off there. I have endless patience for that sort of thing but not as a general rule though.
Cutting, feathering and pasting is a first class solution to vertical challenges, I often find.

Thanks Leo
I've just recently got the bigger file size version printed up (finally) and although the picture quality isn't too hot the more solid effect of the gate bars shows up well. And yep, digital work like that is a bit like fine brush painting isn't it .. although not so 'hands on' .. and does need patience.
Nice to lean back after you've got there and admire the reward for your patience.
After all, I guess we all do this just to please ourselves, purely a bonus if others enjoy it too
I've just done a B/W image and removed a large "For Sale" sign and a "No Parking" sign, now it's worth a second look. Plenty of less than sharp images or technically less than perfect around, which
because of the subject matter, score big time. So that's not so vital![]()
Finally got around to viewing some of your
work - and wow, did I find it! A very thoughtful collection Suzie - way ahead of me on the artistic front. Places and things
can be challenging subjects, I mean to evoke emotion from...
Anyway, this one has terrific mood, carefully composed and shows a real control of natural light.

Hi!
By looking at the title(duh) and the wet, wooden entrance in the photo I guess this is a picture from Bergen - Norway.
A very representative image from the city between the seven mountains.
How did you like your stay in Bergen?
Hope you caught us on one of our very rare sunny days - sadly it rains most of the time. As I write it`s pouring cats and dogs outside.
- Rune
Adrian many thanks
very kind of you ..
and excuse me but your portfolio is pretty hot too!
and Rune - thank you! I'm glad you like this one of Bergen - such a beautiful place and just STUFFED with history .. this was in March one year - ice and snow and freezing cold but the people were so very warm and welcoming. My Norwegian accent wasn't up to much I'm afraid! needs work ... ![]()
Just spotted this in your portfolio (from before my time on Epz)
Can't believe you took out a car - you'd never know.
I like everything about it - great atmoshphere and moody lighting, Abraxus hit the nail on the head with Athena - definitely looks like something they'd have on a poster.
One thing, just read your personal info - what exactly do you do with an ironing board (mm.. could be tricky getting it in the bag!!) and sticky back plastic? I've a lot to learn :o)
Great shot Suzanne. Your patience has paid off. Always a pleasure to view your work.
Cheers,
Hudson
Thanks again Keith .. always so encouraging and I always make picky remarks about yours! (well nearly always ..)
It's a pity I don't have the neg - now my pic twiddling is heaps better than it used to be it would be great to have another go and have a big filesize to work with. I have one printed up as a 10x8 and the resolution is crap but from a few feet away it looks fine! Could get Genuine Fractals at some pointand then it might be worth working it up. People say it's a better way of doing it than doing the incremental bit in PS ..
And never assume anything - too right.
Great job on the manipulation! For a second I thought there were some artifacts in the image, but they came off when I rubbed my thumb over the monitor... :-P
It's funny, I have a picture of a bike taken in Bergen, leaning against a stone wall. Such a hilly town the cyclists must be all muscle!
The composition really works well. I might have darkened the blacks a bit more, but I'm a contrasty kinda guy.
Doug
Very interesting clicking back on an older image. Seeing user names that no longer show up in the photogallery, seeing the different sizes of the uploads. A lot has changed.
A very well composed image. I like the way it frames the bicycle, the rain puddle in the tunnel. This isn't Bergen, Norway is it? Let me tell you, it can rain buckets there!
Anne
I love the atmosphere of this image, it's really interesting, like something straight out of a vintage film. Wonderful.
