I seem to have had a really productive time in Paris - here's another one. The title / caption is just a flight of fancy but I was caught by the effect of her eyes thrown out of focus and the dynamic between her and the guy she's with, and the guy in the foreground.

Did some experimenting with toning.

great study

like the out of focus guy in the bg (probably because of the hat). would have liked a bit more sharpness on the fg man, but a very appealing photo as is. Hadn't noticed the lady until I read your description btw, but for me she's not important for this image

He doesn't seem to convince her. Must be seen in the large version.

Thanks so much everyone. Funny isn't it that pics you've taken sometimes won't pull at your sleeve until some time afterwards.

Antonio thanks - and yes! Or rather, no he doesn't! Even though I've made up the story I'm really drawn to how it's playing out in the way she appears to be watching the guy in the fg go by.

Good image Suzi, I like it. The man is just in the right place in the frame along with the out of focus people in the background.Great image.

. . an interesting and strong image Suzi . . I think you do people so well . . . [the "I have measured out my life" shot was imaculate] . . .

. .this is another great example . . one could read a lot into this . . every viewer will no doubt have their own take . . .

works just fine in mono . . .

I like these 'story in there' type of shots - cities like Paris and Rome are full of them (and, I suppose, London too, if you don't get arrested first) Regards.

Thanks all. Very much appreciated.

Mike thanks for that - I'm gravitating towards candids I think and am plucking up more nerve to do them!

I'm glad the 'story' is coming across - pleased it works.

Jim - really? hehe

Bill thanks for taking the time to do a mod. Works well in sepia doesn't it, and it does change the mood slightly by upping the contrast - interesting.

Good dof, with just enough detail to suggest a context without distracting from the subject.

It was a blessed nuisance that mobile wasn't it .. caused more problems than it was worth. Well, not the mobile as such but the French telecon provider ..

Great photo, there is a lot going on considering there are only three people.

Thanks for your comments, really appreciated, its not often that I get advice on how to improve.
