I darkened the rose and background I thought it made it look richer not sure if it is to dark.

A beautiful rose, beautifully captured and presented, Linda. It is not easy to get the colour of this type of red rose to record accurately, I find, as the sheen of the petals seems to fool the camera. So I think it quite reasonable to take a few liberties in the processing, and I think you have done a fine job here. You have captured this beauty with fine detail and conserved the velvety texture extremely well. And as you may be aware, i o find the black b/g such an effective way of presenting single blooms like this.
