I think this is a nice shot and I like the way you've used the shape of the grass bank to create a kind of lead in to the image. (I'm not expressing myself very well but I'm sure you now what I mean!)

For me the light is a little flat, though and I think the composition could be tightened up a bit to have more of the interesting bits and less of the rather featureless water. Imagine the same shot with sunlight breaking through the clouds just before sunset and skimming over that lovely grass. If you wanted, you might also be able to use a longer shutter speed to capture some movement in the grass. A longer exposure time would also have the effect of smoothing out the water and might help enhance any reflections of the sky.

Just some ideas...it's a nice shot as it is but worth having another go I'd say. Hope this helps,

I like this kind of shot..shame there's no large version - one of the privileges of E2 membership!

I think ND grads would have helped the burnt out highlights to the right and it's a shame most of the garden appears to be in shade. When you get up so early, you want to go home with something, though! Good effort IMHO and don't give up.
