Alan I noted some of your settings
white balance colour temperature colour filter. the reason I ask is when I take Kingfishers they always seem to be over coloured and blured will this setting stop this from happening ?

The white balance I used was 5700K, never use auto white balance outdoors.
1/100 to 1/125 for a stationary kingfisher.
at least 5.6 or more for a 300mm lens.
Keep the ISO as low as pos near 100. for detail, I have little noise at 2500 but loose detail.
always use a tripod with spikes dug in the ground and a remote for static shots, use live view and do not touch the viewfinder, or camera.
Your' photos are very good but, we always want better. I have on order a better lens, which should arrive any day now.
Your kingfisher shots are breathtakingly beautiful. Neil.

Sold my 300 mk1 today, it was designed by Minolta for roll film cameras The new one is due any day
( I hope it has already arrived in the Sony warehouse in Wales, from Japan).
waiting for the courier.
I think I will be the first in England to own one.
This is my last photo with the old lens. I will soon be fully digital and up to date.
