Much to my delight, a number of these beautiful butterflies are surviving the gales and I have also spotted the odd painted lady with the coppers in the meadow.
How on earth do such delicate things survive such powerful weather? Lovely shots as usual Carol.

Stunning detail in no1
Apparition of a Butterfly
Upon a fuzzy vista – vision blurred –
I tried to focus; nothing ever solid
Came to view, but undeterred, I blinked
An eye to try again. Through the mist
A coloured hue; polychromatic flames
Had flickered at a whim; a rhythm bore
A thrumming too: a naturalistic hymn.
Behold! Were I to find a synonym to
Reproduce or recreate
The apparition of a Copper Butterfly,
Evolving through the waning vapour,
Drawing on a sigh from this romantic.
Glory be! The raging sun above
Had fired his furnace, flaming off
The hangers on. Now I saw the flare:
His time has come. He spread a Copper Coat –
A scene of Mother Nature at her best.
I lay in peace in knowing I was blessed.
Brilliant set of images,Carol..
Now Carol there will be a few green envy with this shot
Amazing that they are still around, and still in such good condition.

Well done Carol - never saw one this rainy summer.
V1 is spectacular. Love it.
What a fab set Carol, the colours and detail are exceedingly good. How close did you get in v1, the detail and magnification is nearly as good as the Big O's with his super dooper macro lens costing nearly a grand!
in december ? WOW. this no1 is a top shot indeed. Excellent.
Really lovely shots, esp. V1
