Cracking capture Alan. Great action and timing on this, captured to perfection. Might have given a try to increase the canvas size and give just a little more space to the top to finish it off. This will get a 10 in print for sure

Not really anything to criticize here! My only suggestion would be to crop away about half of the space behind the bird, where not much is happening, and add a bit more at the top so that wingtip doesn't come so close to the edge of the frame.

Superb shot. very shallow dof that puts the eye and beak in sharp focus. I can only suggest composing to allow more space at top and right as in my mod.

regards

Just done a little mod, frame stretching and a crop at the back of the bird, give’s the bird more room in the frame just finishes an already excellent action image.

1/400 Lot of movement in this type of shot! F5.6 Would have liked more ISO400 best in the lighting conditions -1.3 ev, colour 5600 400MM with full frame to avoid cropping. 4 meters from the bird. Sony A850 Sony 70-400 lens at full 400mm
