Description

Eastern Black Swallowtail

I was not looking for insects
not expecting to see this spectacular butterfly today~~~~~~~

She was resting on some boxwood--moved on to the Jack-in-the pulpits when she sensed me--
I believe she had just emerged and needed a bit of a rest--- and some more wing pumping!

I have NEVER seen one with both tails in tact.

An amazingly sharp macro with a very nice bokeh.

A stunning close up of this beautiful and exotic butterfly, the detail, colours and clarity are first class. Very few butterflies around here it has been too cold and wet, and has been like that for the past three weeks.
